"scienstitious" was <strike>my</strike> our best attempt to spell a word that would be like "superstitious" but with science.

other attempts

science-stitious
sciencestitious
sciencetitious
scienstitious

the only similar word i found on the internet was "scientitious", but thats not the word i'm trying to make. i want that 's' sound...

any other suggestions? do you like one of the other variants better? let me know

i don't think canada can be considered a police-state, our bill of rights has yet to be destroyed in the name of "security" ("anyone who trades liberty for security deserves neither" Franklin). you can still take pictures on a subway platform in toronto without being arrested for terrorism. if i was an american or british citizen you can bet that i'd already be far away from home. we still have access to the whole internet, unlike those who live behind the great firewall (granted this <strike>privilege</strike> right may change if we lose net neutrality and the internet goes the way of the radio and television... corporate-controlled content)

we are still lucky to be canadians. i love this country and i'd rather fight for my rights than run away.

that being said, if we begin concede to american lobbyists on the matter of copyright, you can be sure our government will be bullied on other legislature. give an inch and they'll take a mile. in the most dire case: the north american union. if canada, mexico, and the us became one country, whose laws do you think will win? where will our bill of rights be then? i dont know, but i sure as hell wont be around to find out.

Yes I think its time to leave town (Canada). I don't want to be ruled by a police state anymore.
Between this and B.C.'s Carbon Tax, Oh! And house prices, Might as well label me the third world young generation of Canada. Thank you Canada... for nothing.

i updated the post with that box's specs.

my personal box is a loud-on-start 1.0 using the same softmod and same hdd. it has one of those firmware-flashed pc dvd drives in it that has theoretically faster speeds... i dont really notice a difference, all of my games are on hdd anyway. i just got it cuz the shitty dvd was broke when i bought it.

your tip on the better ribbon cable for boosting hdd speed intrigues me... what kind of performance increase did your benchmarking show?

Nice box, it looks like you really payed close attention to the painting details. What mods do you have done on it? Mines got a 200gb hdd upgrade, 12v fan mod (had some heat issues...), Xenium ice chip, 1.6b box, ultra DMA/ATA cable (I've benchmarked the difference, and the impact of this mod is surprising), samsung drive with pot tweak, controller usb-port mod (mouse/kb), and of course upgraded thermal grease to arctic silver. If you haven't upgraded the ATA ribbon cables, I'd highly recommend doing so, game load times are noticeably increased, the mod is extremely easy to do, and the cable on costs a couple bucks if you don't already have one laying around.
